cell phone privacy
We would present the staff with the scenario from the Tunkhannock ASD case. The staff would provide feedback on what actions they would have taken in this situation. We would then provide the findings in the case and review the information with the staff. Next we would provide the staff with the rights that students have based on the First and Fourth Ammendments, along with specific guidelines for handling cellphone issues. If time, other scenarios will be presented to the staff for review.

Teacher Education on Cell Phone Privacy
First I would make sure that the district office provided proper, current PD on student First Amendment Rights for all administrators. Then I would make sure that once all principals had an accurate understanding of the law, that they would provide appropriate PD for their teachers. I would provide resources for all the principals and teachers that summarize the most important points and procedures in cases related to student privacy.
